Each piece of Paloma's Jewelry Corp is handmade by us, using metals and genuine gemstones. Jewelry should be treated with love and care. Here are a few tips to follow to keep your jewels looking beautiful.

Over time, jewelry will naturally pick up oils from your skin and change to a more organic hue. Avoid contact with all oils including lotions, perfumes, sunscreens, and tanning oil as this will change the color of your jewelry. We recommend keeping your jewelry out of water to ensure the durability. Please take off your jewelry before swimming, showering, cooking or doing housework activities. Brass and Sterling silver will tarnish over time. Sterling silver is made of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Due to the copper content, it will naturally tarnish over time, especially if not being worn. Tarnishing simply happens through exposure to oxygen and oxidative reactions that occur with sulfur making it all too easy for it to happen. High humidity levels, air pollution and contact with chemicals found in deodorant, hairspray, lotions, perfume, and bleach can also cause tarnishing. When not wearing your piece, storing your jewelry in a jewelry box or a small plastic bag helps to slow tarnishing. Ziploc bags can be an easy way to keep your sterling silver from tarnishing, as long as you lock out the air. You can do this by placing the jewelry in a Ziploc bag, closing it halfway and squeezing all the air out before sealing. Just make sure the bags you use don't contain abrasive materials, like Mylar or polyethylene. Avoid tossing your silver pieces into your jewelry box with all the rest of your jewelry as this can lead to scratches. Each piece of jewelry should be packed individually. While using plastic bags to store your sterling silver jewelry is inexpensive, it's not exactly practical. You're better off using specialized anti-tarnish jewelry storage bags which can be purchased online or at your local jewelry store. Never clean metals such as gold or silver with tissue paper or paper towels as it can lead to minor scratches in the surface. We recommend using a soft jewelry cleaning and polishing cloth to bring it back to a shiny luster. If there is a patina on the piece do NOT use a polishing cloth, instead use soap and a soft tooth brush to clean off the dirt and grime. We recommend taking your jewelry off before sleeping, especially earrings. Wearing your earring to sleep can distort ear posts and bend fragile pieces.

Black rhodium is a plating that may wear off over time, especially in the presence of items containing sulfur such as leather, rubber, chlorine, and perspiration as well as lotions, perfumes and oils.It is not advisable to polish or wipe your black rhodium silver jewelry. Wipe gently only if needed and never use anything but a clean, nub-free cotton cloth. AVOID silver polish or dip style cleaning products which will remove the plating. Never use any chemicals on your rhodium items. Never use toothpaste and never brush with a toothbrush. Don't use polishing cloths that are intended for use on uncoated silver or for gold jewelry. Never use abrasives of any kind. Never use ammonia-based products. If you have an antique or heirloom, don't clean it without consulting an expert on your item. If you would like to re-plate the jewelry or have a specific question please contact us
